Remedial soft tissue therapy for runners
I am an advanced sports remedial therapist in Paddington, Brisbane, and I work with runners on the overuse injuries that come with the miles: the calves, achilles, shins, knees, hips and hamstrings. Hands-on treatment that finds the mechanism, not just the sore spot.
Why runners pick up injuries
Running is thousands of foot strikes at a bodyweight or more each time. Most running injuries are overuse: load added faster than the body adapts, often after a spike in distance or pace.
The pain rarely starts where it hurts. A cranky calf can come from the hip, sore knees from the feet. My job is to find that chain and treat it.
What I work on
- Plantar fasciitis, heel and arch pain
- Achilles tendinopathy
- IT band syndrome, outer knee pain
- Shin splints
- Calf strain
- Runner's knee
- Hamstring strain

How the treatment works
Assessment
I take your history, watch how you move, and use orthopaedic testing to rule things in or out. Black and white: positive or negative.
Treatment
Hands-on soft tissue work, with real time on the table. I treat the whole area involved, not just the point of pain.
Education
You leave understanding your own body. A few sessions in, you can tell me what is happening and why. That is what keeps it from coming back.
Common questions
Do I have to stop running?
Not always. Often we manage load rather than stop completely. I will give you a straight answer for your situation once I have assessed it.
Is this the same as seeing a physio?
No, and it is not meant to replace one. My focus is deep, hands-on soft tissue treatment with real time on the table. If you need a physio, a scan, or another practitioner, I will point you there.
Is this a sports massage?
No. A sports massage is a general, relaxation-style rub down. This is clinical treatment for a specific problem. This is not relax. This is treatment.
