Running injuries Achilles tendinopathy in runners
The achilles takes enormous load every stride, and it complains when load outpaces recovery. I treat achilles tendinopathy with hands-on remedial soft tissue therapy in Paddington, Brisbane.
What achilles tendinopathy is
It is an overload problem in the tendon, not a one-off injury. It builds as stiffness and pain at the back of the ankle, often worst warming up and after you stop.
Where the load comes from
Tight, overworked calves, a spike in training, and the way your foot loads all feed the tendon. I treat the tendon and the calf chain, and we manage load while it settles.
How the treatment works
Assessment
I take your history, watch how you move, and use orthopaedic testing to rule things in or out. Black and white: positive or negative.
Treatment
Hands-on soft tissue work, with real time on the table. I treat the whole area involved, not just the point of pain.
Education
You leave understanding your own body. A few sessions in, you can tell me what is happening and why. That is what keeps it from coming back.
Common questions
Should I push through it?
Tendons rarely respond well to being ignored. We usually manage load rather than push through blindly. I will give you a realistic plan after assessing it.
Is this a sports massage?
No. This is targeted clinical treatment for a specific tendon problem, not a general rub down.
