Hamstring strain in runners

Hamstring strains love to recur if the cause is missed. I treat them with hands-on remedial soft tissue therapy in Paddington, Brisbane, and address the reasons they keep coming back.

What a hamstring strain is

Fibres at the back of the thigh overloaded past their limit, often at speed or during a sudden effort. It ranges from a mild tightness to a sharp, stopping grab.

Why they recur

Old scar tissue, glutes that are not doing their job, and load that ramps too fast all set up the next strain. I treat the tissue and address the pattern behind it.

How the treatment works

Assessment

I take your history, watch how you move, and use orthopaedic testing to rule things in or out. Black and white: positive or negative.

Treatment

Hands-on soft tissue work, with real time on the table. I treat the whole area involved, not just the point of pain.

Education

You leave understanding your own body. A few sessions in, you can tell me what is happening and why. That is what keeps it from coming back.

Common questions

Why does mine keep coming back?

Recurring hamstring strains usually mean the underlying cause was never addressed, whether that is scar tissue, glute function, or load. That is exactly what we work on.

Is this a sports massage?

No. This is clinical treatment for a specific problem, not a general relaxation rub down.
