Gym injuries Wrist pain from lifting
Pressing, front racks and heavy grips load the wrist hard. I treat gym wrist pain with hands-on remedial soft tissue therapy in Paddington, Brisbane, working the wrist and the forearm that drives it.
Why lifting loads the wrist
Loaded extension under a bar, front-rack positions and heavy gripping put big demand on the wrist and the forearm muscles that control it.
The forearm link
Tight, overworked forearms and an irritated elbow attachment are usually part of the picture, so I treat the whole chain rather than just the joint.
How the treatment works
Assessment
I take your history, watch how you move, and use orthopaedic testing to rule things in or out. Black and white: positive or negative.
Treatment
Hands-on soft tissue work, with real time on the table. I treat the whole area involved, not just the point of pain.
Education
You leave understanding your own body. A few sessions in, you can tell me what is happening and why. That is what keeps it from coming back.
Common questions
Is it a sprain or something worse?
I do not diagnose fractures or significant ligament tears. If your symptoms suggest something that needs imaging, I will refer you on. Otherwise I assess and treat the soft tissue involved.
Is this a sports massage?
No. This is clinical treatment for a specific problem, not a general relaxation rub down.
